With their second album the power trio Prisma Circus ignites a true psychedelic hard rock fireworks. Excessive joy of playing combined with multifaceted virtuosity is the top priority here. The analogously produced gem seamlessly follows the most inspired spirit in rock history from 1967 to 1972; an epic trip, from euphorically driving to melancholically gloomy! Finally a courageous band that builds bridges to geniuses like Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker or Jimi Hendrix without copying them. With their debut album "Path Of Virtue" the German quintet Vvlva (post Orcus Chylde) revives 1970s heavy-psychedelic krautrock in an impressive way. The blend of epic, spherical Hammond organ passages, hard driven guitar riffs/solos and distinctive vocals provides an agile and multifaceted listening experience. Finally a band with courage for individuality that delivers the organ-driven Uriah Heep-, Deep Purple- or Bloodrock-sound in a timeless and authentic manner. Saturna is the second spanish World In Sound group besides the guitar wizards in Prisma Circus. At first glance, Saturnas third full-length album bursts with the ideals of 1970s Hard Rock legends like Buffalo, Bloodrock and Led Zep but additionally they created an excessive, fresh and fiery feeling. They are not locked into the pure cage of only these early 70s hard rock-idioms, as rather they manage to incorporate all the great spirits of the following decades in rock music. You mind will be blown by Saturna's catchiness and their remarkable old-school Hard Rock vocals. Bluesy guitar solos and a very well-adjusted rhythm section round this album off as one one of the finest examples in contemporary Heavy Rock. [more]

Founded 2008 in Heidelberg, Germany, the searing strings, swirling Hammond organ and pounding drums of Buddha Sentenza condensed rapidly to form a nebulous cloud of loosely jammed, spaced-out, rocking riffs. After releasing the selfreleased "mode0909" in 2009 and their WIS-debut "South Western Lower Valley Rock" in 2013, Buddha Sentenza returns 2016 with their third longplayer "Semaphora". Once again, the quintet honors their sonic heritage by comprising sounds from multiple corners of the rock spectrum, resulting in a perfect, modernized match of psychedelic, stoner and jam music. "Halucinda" is the promising second album by Swedish heavy progressive rock quintet POSTURES. The young band and their distinctive singer Paulina Nyström delivers a sophisticated and rousing gem. The diversity of their usually longer songs ranges from gloomy and hypnotic elements to heavy riffs with complex rhythms to deepest melancholy. Conceptually "Halucinda" is a journey to the 1970s, in the spheres of Pink Floyd or Yes, but with more modern influences like Mars Volta or The Gathering. The album provides a cross-genre timelessness. With the necessary sonority, Nyström´s crystal clear voice forms a dominant thread... [more]

Imaad Wasif´s second studioalbum "Strange Hexes", which came out as a self-release in 2008, belongs to the lost gems of contemporary Rock music. The fragile shamanic poet immediately captures the listener in an overwhelming atmosphear between sonic bliss and bone-breaking intensity. His guitar licks howl like Wolfs in the night, while his voice seems to cut through the air. This is true musician-mastership and yet a mystery why only so few initiates have heard of this great album. One thing World In Sound is clearly set to change with the final vinyl release and a new official CD-release, both including linernotes and rare photos. [more]
